Affording Foxcroft

Foxcroft accepts students based on their qualifications without regard to their family’s financial situation. Families are encouraged to apply for financial aid when there is demonstrated need and to explore merit scholarships available as appropriate.

Our boarding and day school for girls, located in Virginia, offered 51% of the student body need-based and/or merit-based aid for the 2023-24 school year, totaling $2.58 million in need-based aid and $403,000 in merit-based aid.

Financial Assistance

As of August 2023, Foxcroft School has partnered with Clarity as our financial aid application provider. We have chosen Clarity in order to better serve both our current and prospective families. We are confident that this change is going to make the process of applying for financial assistance easier for families.

Additionally, Clarity removes the need to upload your 2022 W2 and 1040 by transferring them directly from the IRS. The entire application takes only about 20 minutes to complete.

Ready to Apply?

To begin the application process, go to the Clarity website and follow the instructions to either create a new account or log in.

Refer to the Clarity Family Information Guide for instructions on how to navigate the online application.

If you need support while completing your application, there is in-app support as well as email support at in both English and Spanish. The application itself is also fully translated into Spanish.

Merit Scholarships

There are a limited number of endowed, merit scholarships available to students. Other merit scholarships for new students do not require an additional application. Bedford Scholarship

The Ruth T. Bedford ’32 Merit Scholarship for the Arts, a $25,000 grant-in-aid for which you must apply, honors Ms. Bedford by supporting girls who share her passion for the arts and who embody her sense of adventure and enterprise.

Mars Scholarships

Mars Scholarships Merit Awards are multi-year scholarships awarded to students with a demonstrated ability in the areas of literature and the arts; science and math; and civics, government leadership and history, and a particular interest in service to their community.

IT Fund

Established anonymously in 2008, this fund provides merit-based support to ITs (daughters and granddaughters of alumnae).

Endowed Scholarships

Foxcroft is grateful to the many donors who, through their generosity and thoughtfulness, have provided the opportunity for future students to attend our boarding school. These funds do not require an additional application and are awarded based on the overall strength of the general admission application and on specific criteria stipulated by the donors. When paired with need-based assistance, named scholarships may replace portions of FA awards to permit the funds to be used to support other students.

Four-Year Full Scholarships

Two Extraordinary Opportunities

Through the incredible generosity of a loyal Foxcroft family and Lou Womack, Foxcroft is pleased to be able to offer two full scholarships honoring Mary Louise Leipheimer and Jess Y. Womack, respectively. These scholarships are for a maximum of four years each and become available when the current holder of the scholarship graduates. No additional application is required for these scholarships.

Leipheimer Scholarship

Established in 2005 by a loyal Foxcroft family, the Mary Louise Leipheimer Scholarship is named in honor of Mary Louise Leipheimer. A former Head of School, Mary Lou devoted most of her professional career to Foxcroft before retiring in 2014. Her four-year scholarship is awarded to "a student who possesses the ability to work hard and play hard. This student demonstrates the qualities, often overlooked in young people, most exemplified by Mary Lou: honor, dedication, loyalty, humor, grace, and an understanding heart."

Womack Scholarship

Established in 2008 by Lou Womack, in memory of her husband Jess, the merit-based Jess Y. Womack II Scholarship makes a Foxcroft education more readily available to girls with enthusiasm for making the most of the Foxcroft experience.
